Stadio belongs to Fulvio and Cinzia, equal partners in everything. Fulvio is at the stove, cooking fish the way Viareggio always has: no frills, generous plates and fair prices. Cinzia runs the dining room and looks after you, from the first hello to the last coffee. In the morning we are a café, at lunch and dinner an osteria. Our guests do the rest: they come back and bring their friends. That is why we are often full, so book a few days ahead.
Bring your dog along: here it is at home. It always has been, thanks to Vincent, Cinzia's boxer, who for years did the honours going from table to table. Vincent is no longer with us and we miss him. His rule still stands, though: every dog that walks in is welcome.
...good fish and plates, no, huge platters of delicacies, above all spaghetti with mussels and pecorino!
I think I had the fried fish par excellence. Hot, dry, crunchy, expressive, inviting, perfect. One unique, supreme touch: the fried sage.
"Have you eaten?" is the most genuine expression of love.
